April 4, 2025. Plastic artist Nono García, an experienced painter who has held more than fifty solo exhibitions nationwide, and whose works have been showcased at several international art fairs, will be commissioned to create the poster for the Holy Week of 2026.

This was announced this Friday by the mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil Jódar, who emphasized that «with absolute creative loyalty, the Murcian painter will reflect on the canvas the personal interpretation of our Holy Week, thus taking the baton from his renowned colleague and friend, Cristóbal Pérez García ‘Toval’.»

The mayor added, «The choice of the artist is very successful, as he is a Murcian painter with international projection and whose artistic conception, undoubtedly very original in our Holy Week, will be a great presentation card,» concluding that «the best artists paint and interpret our Holy Week.»

The poster for the Holy Week of 2026 will be unveiled in January of next year at an event sponsored by the Agrícola Cooperative. We thank this company from the city of Lorca for their collaboration in this initiative, as it demonstrates their involvement in Lorca and all its residents.

With several mentions and awards for his «dry painting» credit, Nono García is also a recognized illustrator who has received, among other things, posters for the Murcia «Three Cultures» Festival; The International Theater, Music and Dance Festival in San Javier; Murcia Fair in 2011; The International Tunas Neighborhood Contest and the Mula Fair and Festival, as well as the Road Festival.

His work is part of important private and public collections, highlighting the Museum of the Carta E della Filigrano in Fabriano, Italy; Gabarrón Foundation, United States; Autonomous Community of Murcia; University of Murcia, Comillas Foundation of Cantabria; Albacete Diputación; Cam Foundation; The Mediterranean Foundation and Lorca Lorca.

It should be noted that in Lorca, his work has been well known since he exhibited in 2013 and 2015. With harmonious compositions, Nono García’s imagery expresses beauty with great sensitivity and often reveals the importance of what we don’t know how to see. He is a painter who deals with a skill of suggestion in his painting, achieving two atmospheres with his works, real and suggested, which in turn establish a dialogue and complement each other.
