López Miras emphasizes that the region of Murcia has become «a diverse and unique filming location» for organizing films

The president of the region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, receives the honorary territory of Biznaga from the Malaga Festival 2025.
The president of the region, Fernando López Miras, collected the Silver Biznaga today in the city of Malaga for the region of Murcia from the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de Torre, and highlighted the small audiovisual sector, which is seen as a territory «that can host a large global, that is a diverse territory».
«Today I have the immense honor to represent men and women who sacrifice, struggle, and make the audiovisual industry a real engine for the region of Murcia,» said the president, who reaffirmed that, on one hand, it creates opportunities and jobs, and on the other hand, reputation and prestige, making them «the best».
The region of Murcia is the protagonist of the Territories section of Mafiz, the industry area of the Malaga Festival, which facilitates the participation of 15 regional projects in the different competition events, in addition to the Murcian audiovisual delegation having a full program of relationships and commercial activities.
Throughout the week and coordinated by the Murcia Film Commission and the Malaga Festival, the autonomous community and its professionals will showcase the possibilities and facilities it offers for filming and investments in the audiovisual sector, as well as different recent productions.
For López Miras, «to be the invited community in the fourth edition of the Mafiz Territories, the festival’s industry area, is a very important step for us in the roadmap we set in our capacity to impress.» Therefore, he showed the commitment of the regional executive to «facilitate the fact that talent has the opportunity to progress and reach the world, opening borders».
In this line, he referred to the regional executive’s journey in audiovisual matters «to continue supporting the audiovisual sector of the region of Murcia, such as the creation of the Murcia Film Commission, promoted two years ago.

During his speech, López Miras also had words for «Sorda», the short film, and Nuria Muñoz, who made it to the Goya Awards and, as a feature film, was awarded at the Berlin International Film Festival and began to yearn for the Malaga Festival.
He also referred to some of the most important artists in the film industry in the region of Murcia and recalled «the most distinguished and international» Paco Rabal, who collected the Biznaga honor at the Malaga Festival 25 years ago. He also mentioned other actors and actresses who, according to the president, «are synonymous with a unique human factor, great professionals in the audiovisual sector, with everything necessary to achieve our goals».
Mafiz brings together 1,700 professionals from 60 countries, including 959 distributors or producers, as well as 25 sales agents and 48 delegates from international film festivals.
