Our industry has solid foundations.

The branches of industrial activities that have registered the highest increase in the year and the year are the food industry, manufacture of metallic products, chemicals, and equipment repairs, among others.

The Head of the Regional Executive also emphasized that in the next ten years, «the region of Murcia will be able to generate around 60,000 job opportunities in the sector, which will come from generational renewal, but also from the creation of new jobs.» Specifically, there will be 17,000 newly created jobs and another generational renewal, according to data collected in a report by Caixa on professional training in the industrial sector.

Due to this development, «our young people will have access to training programs to expand their knowledge and preparation for these job opportunities. In this way, we will exceed the figure of over 100,000 employees in total in the industrial sector of the region of Murcia, and this work is of high quality,» said López Miras.

During his speech, the President also stated that «it is increasingly important to adapt to new technological and productive challenges.» In this sense, he emphasized that «our universities play an essential role, as they are the epicenter of knowledge, innovation, and technological development that our industry must continue to advance and grow.»

The celebration of this forum is another stage in the process of active listening and dialogue with all the actors involved in developing the industrial plan of the region of Murcia. Therefore, this event allows us to «share ideas, identify opportunities, and attract common strategies that help us make the most of the potential of the new industry,» said López Miras.

The head of the autonomous government highlighted the value of Cartagena as «the main industrial hub of the region of Murcia» with the Espojas Valley «at the forefront of disruptive technologies, such as green hydrogen, to advance in renewable energies or biofuel production.»

The necessary investments in the electrical grid to continue growing

The head of the autonomous government warned that, despite these foundations, «to grow in the industrial sector, infrastructure is essential, and in an industry so dependent on electricity supply, it is equally important that the ministry extends the capacity of the electricity transmission grid to attract new industries.»

The industrial plan will establish the main lines of growth for the region in this area and will do so after a process of active listening that will allow constant adaptation and improvement of this roadmap. In November, the community published the basic document and the first two working tables on employment and innovation have already been created. As for the third, it will address the structuring of the territory and the fight against depopulation.
