Específicamente, la comunidad llevará a cabo la consolidación de la compañía en la carretera RM-703 between Moratalla and Campo de San Juan, improving the intersection between RM-715 and RM-B36, as well as a new pavement on the road connecting the districts of Benizar and OTOS. These initiatives will modernize the municipality’s road network and enhance road safety.
The councilor noted that these investments are in addition to the 107% increase in the budget allocated to Moratalla within the community work and services plan, amounting to €353,000. This is the municipality in the Murcia region that has seen the largest increase in these funds.
The aforementioned plan highlights projects such as improving the sidewalks on several streets in Moratalla, renewing the public lighting network, or adapting a sports court with the construction of a roof. Likewise, the parking lot and Glorieta park will be renovated.
In addition, the return of the budget allocated by the regional government to the local police in Moratalla, which has increased by over 15% and now stands at €292,000, is also included. This increase helps improve municipal resources in citizen safety.
During the meeting, other key issues for the municipality’s development were addressed, such as tourism. «Moratalla is one of the main references for internal tourism in the Murcia region,» said Ortuño, who added that in 2025, the regional government has allocated different financial assistance to promote tourism initiatives, such as national battery and surplus days, the «lavender territory» project, or Cristo.
Improving the electrical infrastructure in the Los Aldedetes industrial estate
President López Miras and Juan Pascual Soria also discussed the need to improve the electrical infrastructure of the Los Aldedetes industrial estate, a problem that affects several areas in the region «and has been denounced in recent months,» said Ortuño.
To contribute to this issue, the regional government has launched four aid applications for the rehabilitation and improvement of industrial properties in recent years, of which the Local Council of Moratalla has already been a beneficiary in 2023. For this year, a new call with €900,000 is planned.
Regarding the scope of social policy, Ortuño reported that «Moratalla has a day center with 35 authorized places, 18 of which are contracted with IMA,» and stated that «a new call for contracted places is planned for September, from which the Muraval Council of Moratalla can benefit.»
Finally, Ortuño recalled that «the efforts of the regional executive with the municipalities could be much more significant if we receive proper funding from the state,» although he guaranteed that «we will continue working to improve our support to all localities and optimize the available resources.»
