Antonio David Sánchez, mayor of young talent: «It is a new opportunity that we offer from the Lorca government to discover the city and its history in a different way, compete with friends and, why not, take the prize.»

February 24, 2025. The young talent advisor of the city of Lorca, Antonio David Sánchez, presented on Monday «The Lost Fortune of Don de Guevara», a gym organized by this municipal management area with the aim of transforming Lorca into a history.

The activity, aimed at young people between 16 and 30 years old, will take place on Friday, February 28 and will propose a tour of the city’s most emblematic corners in search of a lost treasure, based on real historical documentation from the seventeenth century. Participants must solve riddles and overcome clever clues to find a chest with 300 euros in it, a prize for the winning team.

Antonio David Sánchez emphasized that «this gymkhana is not only an opportunity to enjoy an afternoon with friends, but also to rediscover and learn about the history of Lorca in a dynamic and participatory way. We want young people to engage with their heritage and experience it firsthand, becoming protagonists of a story based on real events.» The activity is inspired by the figure of Don Juan de Guevara García de Alcaraz, the noble Lorquino from the seventeenth century.

The starting point will be Plaza de España at 6:00 p.m., and the competition will run until 9:00 p.m. Teams, consisting of three to six members, must register their application in advance via WhatsApp on phone number 681146727.

Furthermore, to ensure the proper development of the competition, a series of standards have been established including the team’s common movement, prohibition of external assistance, and respect for the game materials. The clues, distributed in different parts of the city, will be in QR format to facilitate access.

The Young Talent advisor has encouraged all young people to participate in this initiative, emphasizing that «it is a new opportunity that we offer from the Lorca government to engage with your city and its history in a different way, compete with friends, and, why not, take the prize. We are waiting for you on February 28 to discover who will be the team capable of revealing the mystery of Don Juan de Guevara,» said Sánchez.
