The activity at Lorca Castle will include a tour of the synagogue, the Alfonsina Tower, the Spur Tower, and a meal at the Las Caballerizas restaurant.
On the guided tour of the former collegiate college in San Patricio, meeting at the Plaza de España tourism office, participants will discover the environment and interior of the temple, built between the 16th and 18th centuries, as well as the Bell of the Bell.
On March 17, the owner of the local police is also celebrated, commemorated with a meal at the former colleague of San Patricio, Pass Magazine, raising the Irish Pavilion and the act of decorations for the Plaza de España agents.

On March 14, 2025, the tourism advisor in the city of Lorca, Santiago Parra Soriano, presented the activities organized for St. Patrick’s Day, March 17. A special day of significance for the city, as St. Patrick is not only the patron saint of Ireland, but also of the region of Murcia and the local police of Lorca.
Santiago Parra emphasized that «March 17 is an intimate day for Lorca’s history because it was at this moment, in 1452, that the Battle of the Alpocles took place, one of the most illustrious armed acts in our history. As a tribute to the victory of the Lorquinas hosts, the former college in San Patricio, the only Spanish Christian temple dedicated to the owner of Ireland. Additionally, this temple is, along with the cathedrals of Dublin and New York, one of the great churches in the world dedicated to St. Patrick.»
As part of the activities program, the tourism mayor announced that «Lorquinos, visitors, and tourists, both national and foreign, will be able to learn about the history of Lorca with the department’s tour guides, who will explain the history of Lorca from its foundation and, in particular, how its troops have prevailed in the relationship.»
Among the scheduled activities, we highlight the visit to Lorca Castle, which will include a tour of the synagogue (11 am), the Alfonsina Tower (12 pm), and the Espolón Tower (1 pm). This initiative will culminate with a meal at 2 pm at the Las Caballeizas restaurant, where participants will receive a beer in honor of the holiday. St. Patrick’s Day will also be commemorated with a guided tour of the former Collegiate College of San Patricio, with a meeting point at the Plaza de España tourism office at 10:00. During the tour, participants will be able to discover the environment and interior of the temple, built between the 16th and 18th centuries, with elements that combine Renaissance and Baroque styles.
In this activity, the facade, the ships, the chapels, the sacristy, and the crypt will be visited, with special attention to the splendid vaults, decorations, and the large collection of paintings that emerged during the restoration process. Additionally, the climb is included, where you can enjoy a stunning view of Lorca’s roofs and domes. «You must remember that this climb has over 130 steps, so you must be in good physical condition,» said Parra Soriano. Reservations can be made for this visit at the tourism office.
St. Patrick is also the patron of the local police in Lorca, so the agents will celebrate several activities throughout the day in which the entire municipal corporation will participate. At 11 in the morning, a meal will be held in their honor at the former colleague of San Patricio, and at 12 noon, the Plaza de España will host the review and the act of awarding decorations and distinctions to the members of the Corpse, presided over by the Lorca mayor, Fulgencio Gil Jódar.
Finally, the tourism advisor wanted to encourage everyone to join in the celebration of St. Patrick, emphasizing that «from the Lorca government, we invite Lorquinos and visitors to enjoy this day in our city and learn about its history. In particular, we want to highlight the Irish raid, under the agreements of the Irish anthem and later the national anthem, a very emotional act with which we strengthen the connections that unite us in Ireland and remember the importance of the Battle of Alpore in our history.»
