According to Aemet, maximum gusts between 50 and 60 km/h (Force 7) are estimated on the coast, with wind component, affecting the coastal area of the region and waves of 2 to 3 meters.
Incidents that may occur as a result of this strong wind include, among others: branch and tree breakage, falling of perimeter fences, elements attached to facades, movement of garbage containers, etc., so the entire population is requested from the city of Lorca to report any incidents to 112.
Additionally, several recommendations are mentioned for citizens before episodes of strong winds:
– Avoid walking next to the edge, trees, or construction areas where there is a risk of branches or objects falling.
– Ensure doors, windows, and balconies are secured to prevent incidents inside the house.
– Remove any objects from windows and terraces that may fall or be blown away.
– If driving is necessary, reduce speed, keep a firm grip on the steering wheel, and watch out for possible obstacles on the road.
– In coastal areas, avoid getting close to the shore and stay away from the reach of the waves.
