The Minister for Equality and Women, Patricia Soriano, presented the Co-Responsibility training workshops for men included in the Co-Responsibility and Care Training Plan, funded by the Government of Spain in collaboration with the autonomous community in the region of Murcia.
Patricia Soriano reminded them that «Co-Responsibility is a balanced distribution of responsibilities between women and men This implies that men participate in the care of minors, internal organization, family attention and affection, so that life times are equally distributed among all family members.»
In line with this, a Prenatal and Neonatal Care Workshop designed especially for first-time fathers, although couples can also register. The workshop will cover their involvement in child development, from necessary care during pregnancy to the first months of life. The workshop will take place at the bioclimatic building in a total of five sessions, starting from 7:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., from April 14th. Registration is free and can be done via email at asociateco@gmail.com or by phone at 660 638 635. This workshop will be delivered by a midwife.
The second workshop Care at Different Stages of Children’s Maturation, Co-Response, and Care will address how to deal with each of these stages of our children. The minister noted that this workshop had been held in previous years with very positive results, and it will also be led by professionals at the bioclimatic building, starting from April 30th, in a total of five sessions from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Registration is free and can be done via email at AssociationAfedeco@gmail.com or by phone at 660 638 635. Men can register individually or as a couple.
On another note, a new edition of the Internal Management and Autonomy Workshop for Older Men is aimed at those elderly men living alone to learn regular household tasks for autonomy. It will take place at both the Elderly Center in Herratillas and the Elderly IMA this April. Free registrations can be made at both centers. Similarly, another workshop was scheduled to enhance internal autonomy for users of the Social Services Center.
In other news, the minister expressed satisfaction at the high participation in the activities organized for International Women’s Day on March 8th, where over 800 people have participated so far. She mentioned that this week there were well-received talks on pornography and health, self-sufficiency workshops for elderly women, and discussions on equality in various reading rooms in the city. Patricia Soriano pointed out that «parents are increasingly involved in topics related to children and teenagers.»
