The mayor of Lorca delivered, after the day, the winners of this contest, open to schools in Lorca, Alhama, Águilas, Mazarrón, Puerto Lumbreras, Totana, and Librilla.
The presentation of the stories was divided into three groups, 1 and 2, 3 and 4, and 5 and 6, with one winner in each, awarded a gift valued at 150 euros and a diploma; Plus, 150 euros for their hours and a commemorative trophy for the center.
For them, finalist prizes were added, including a diploma and many books, as well as two special prizes: for the best illuminated story and the outstanding story for its human value.

Lorca, June 13, 2025. The Culture Classroom of Cajamurcia was the chosen stage for the Awards Ceremony for the winners of the XXIV Children’s Literary Short Story Contest organized by Ceip Juan González, open to Primary School students in Lorca, Alhama, Águilas, Mazarrón, Puerto Lumbreras, Totana, and Librilla, with 620 students participating this year.
The mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, together with the education and culture councilors of Lorca, Rosa María Medina and Santiago Parra, and the Director General of Education, Pedro Mondéjar, were present at the event, acknowledging these winners. «Yesterday was a very special day for the young winners, whom we congratulate, but also for the other participants, many of them from other places, who decided to share their works. Therefore, we thank the Juan González school for their effort in maintaining this initiative that, year after year, they manage to carry out.»
The mayor also congratulated all the jury members for the great work, encouraging all participants «to keep reading, writing, because they continue to use literature to express their imagination, emotions, and experiences, aspects that also enrich their personal development.»

It is worth mentioning the sponsors and collaborators like Lile González Benavente, daughter of Juan González, who gives the name to the school and of 18 meters high (who collaborated contributing to the trophies made by themselves), as well as the city of Lorca.
