Lorca is on Monday on alert level 2, according to data provided by the autonomous community in the region of Murcia, so we are launching the municipal action protocol before the environmental pollution episodes of NR2 and PM10. This was announced by the environmental mayor in Lorca, María Hernández.

The average daily yesterday in Lorca was 57.30 pg/m3, exceeding the value of 50 for three days, which implies the correct registration of level 2 established in the PM10 framework protocol. «In recent days, especially since June 7, there have been several episodes of African-origin air intrusion in the south, the peninsular that has affected the municipality, and it is not excluded that in the next few hours they may be repeated,» said María Hernández. In fact, predictions estimate that dust concentrations may be recorded on Monday and Monday between 5-200 µg/m3 for the southeastern peninsular.

The environmental councilor indicated that «for this reason, from the Local Council of Lorca, we are continuously monitoring the evolution of the levels recorded, also advising the population to stay informed about the updated data through the Ministry of Environment quality page in the Murcia region.»

In addition, Hernández recalled that, given this level 2 alert, it is recommended that the population follow a series of preventive measures to avoid the growth of these particles and protect our health, especially the most vulnerable groups, such as people with respiratory or cardiac diseases, elderly, and children:
