The social policy counselor, Patricia Soriano, presented the activities that are carried out every year to celebrate the end of the course at the Municipal Center for the Elderly in «Las Herratillas,» which will take place this year between June 10 and 18.
Opening This final course cultural week will begin on Tuesday, June 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the center, with an Exhibition of craft workshops: crochet, embroidery, drawing, painting, etc.; and the award ceremony for the Spring Championship. Later that same day, at 5:00 p.m., there will be an Audiovisual projection titled «Spanish groups from the 60s.»
On Wednesday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m., a Summer recipe cooking workshop will take place in the old school kitchen in San José. Later in the day, at 5:00 p.m. at the center, there will be a Musical performance by the Choir of the Adult Education Center (El Uno).
On Thursday, June 12 at 7:00 p.m., at the «Concha Segura» theater, there will be a End of Course Gala featuring a showcase of all the artistic activities that have taken place throughout the year: body expression, dances, etc.
On Friday, June 13, starting at 4:30 p.m., there will be a Karaoke event that requires registration.
On Monday, June 16 at 9:00 a.m., a Healthy walk of low difficulty levels will take place with a healthy breakfast at Fuente Cerrrico (with registration and a fee of 2 euros per person).
On Tuesday, June 17, a Final course outing to Villena will be organized. Participants will visit different tourist spots in the city, taking a tour of the castle, museums, food, and dance.
On Wednesday, June 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the Herratillas center, there will be a Theater show featuring students from the Atis Theater School.
Finally, between June 22 and 27, a Manga workshop will be held, especially at the Balneario Entremar Hotel.
Throughout the course, from October 2024 to June 2025, this elderly center conducted 25 workshops, in addition to numerous additional activities in conjunction with cultural weeks, Christmas, Easter, etc. Among the new workshops for this year are the flamenco cajon workshop, the body expression workshop, table tennis, which many women have signed up for, and the German workshop.
The counselor expressed gratitude for the high participation in all the activities scheduled by the center’s users, who now total over 4000 people, as well as the professionals and volunteers who make these activities possible. She also appreciated the collaboration of other centers, such as the Adult Education Center (El Uno) and the Las Herratillas College, Felipe VI, and the Campanilla Children’s School, which participated in some intergenerational activities.
Patricia Soriano concluded by inviting all users to participate in the activities of the Municipal Center in Las Herratillas, also expressing her desire to «acknowledge the positive balance of the year,» hoping for «expansions of activities and workshops, or at least to maintain them in the best possible way» for the next course.
