El gobierno de Lorca renueva más de cuarenta paneles de información turística para mejorar la experiencia de los visitantes.

There has been a new digital printing of texts and their appropriate lacquer, which guarantees greater protection and durability against inclement weather and daily use.

With an investment of over 48,000 euros, this action is part of the digital transformation plan that positions Lorca as a national reference in Smart City.

Antonio David Sánchez, mayor of the smart city, stated: «It is still a step in the commitment to a smart, accessible city, prepared to provide visitors with clear, modern, and lasting information about our cultural, historical, and touristic heritage.»

On May 13, 2025, the counselors for the transformation and tourism of the digital and intelligent city of Lorca, Antonio David Sánchez and Santiago Parra, respectively, reported that the Lorca Government carries out more than forty tourist supports, known as «Infomons», in an accessible and informative action to enhance the city’s governance and provide information to residents and tourists.

Specifically, in March and April, a total of 33 Infomons were intervened in different strategic enclaves of Lorca’s urban area, both through repair and installation of new panels. «The aluminum panels were renovated, with a new digital printing of texts and the corresponding lacquer, ensuring greater protection and durability against weather conditions and daily use. In addition, new installations have been added to previously uncovered areas,» explained Antonio David Sánchez.

The mayor of digital transformation and the smart city emphasized that «these new, more modern and resistant panels help to appreciate our historical heritage, providing accessible information to visitors, tourists, and local residents, allowing them to learn about the history and uniqueness of our most emblematic and intelligent monuments focused on sustainable tourism.»

The renewed or new installation of Infomons has been placed at points of special interest in the Urban Center, such as the entrance and Cloister of the former Monastery in Merced, the House of the Mentchirón Pérez-Montte Museum, the Natarello Salazar-Archaeologist Museum in San Mateo, the Camea of San Julián, the artistic and literary Casino, the War Casino, the Holy Week, the Week of San Juli, The Blue Week, The Alburquerque House, the Plaza de España, The Plaza and The Fuente del Caño, among others.

The actions carried out are part of a broader plan aimed at repairing dozens of existing tourist means and installing new units, especially in the outskirts of the city, to complete the physical tourist information network, which will be implemented in the coming weeks,» he said.

This action amounted to an investment of over 48,000 euros and is part of the contract for the occupation of the municipal public domain for the installation, maintenance, and operation of institutional and commercial information, positioning Lorca as a national reference in smart city development.

The advisor for the digital and intelligent city transformation concluded that «this action strengthens Lorca’s government’s commitment to improving cultural and heritage tourism, while enhancing the urban image of Lorca and the quality of information provided to residents and visitors.»
