June 12, 2025. «We are launching on Tuesday, June 17, a new podiatry service, aimed at people over 65 years old in our districts, framed within the nearby program.» This was announced on Thursday by the mayor’s advisor, Mayte Martínez, who also explained that this project was born with the purpose of bringing socio-health services closer to the elderly, thus promoting active and healthy consolidation, while the desire is struggling.
Mayte Martínez has indicated that «this initiative, which is estimated to benefit more than 900 people, can be carried out thanks to a collaboration with the Murcian Health Service, Lorca area, through which rooms can be used at the Medical Office of Pedan. long distances to urban areas.»
The main advisor detailed that the program takes into account direct care at seventeen points distributed over ten days, so that in each of the seven per month, 122 people will be served in the medical offices themselves, always following the previous appointment, which can be requested at the Mendez Civic Center Council. In addition, the service foresees home care for up to 10 people per round, accredited according to Grade II or III dependency, with special attention to situations of loneliness or social isolation. These referrals will be channeled through the Department of Social Rights.
The service will generally be provided on Tuesdays and Fridays, with a total planned duration of seven months, from June to mid-July, with a break in the summer and the resumption of this year until February 2026, with the schedule of this first phase being:

It should be noted that this project is subsidized by the Ministry of Social Policy, Families, and Equality of the Region of Murcia, under Decree 294/2024, from December 12, which regulates the direct grant to local entities to finance financial actions to promote personal autonomy and care for the dependence of the elderly.
