El Consejo Municipal de Lorca sigue mejorando los espacios urbanos del municipio.

From the local development department, through the rapid intervention brigade, actions are intensifying in different parts of the municipality.

The tasks include the final stretch of regulation before the Easter holidays.

Rosa Medina, mayor of local development: «We are focusing on tasks involving the adaptation and rehabilitation of sidewalks, streets, furniture… The rains have worsened the condition of the areas that must be perfect to facilitate mobility and transportation in these upcoming days when the city also receives hundreds of thousands of visitors.»

Lorca, April 8, 2025. The mayor of local development, Rosa María Medina, has announced a series of actions in the municipality, through the rapid intervention brigade, Bir, which fall within the rehabilitation and improvement of the urban spaces of the city, all in preparation for the arrival of Holy Week in Lorca, which is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors.

«The goal is to adapt and put in perfect conditions various public spaces and city landmarks to facilitate both vehicle and pedestrian traffic,» explained the mayor.

«Among them, we can highlight improvements in Plaza de España and its immediate area, as well as in various roads throughout the city.»

Other notable actions undertaken include the replacement of several granite pieces on Corredera Street and Plaza de San Vicente, where «it should be noted that the existing artificial grass has been replaced with new grass.»

In addition, the planting areas and the ascent to El Calvario have been fixed, and all the pedestrian crossings on Ramón y Cajal have been cleared, making this route of double significance during Holy Week, as announced by Mayor Fulgencio Gil during the presentation of the special security and emergency measures activated during these days.

Finally, it should be mentioned that there has also been a revamping of urban furniture in the busiest areas of the city, such as Concha Sandoval or Alamedas.

In conclusion, Rosa Medina wanted to highlight the effectiveness and functionality of the rapid intervention service, thanking the operators for their activity and commitment, as they enable the quick and efficient resolution of these issues or incidents.
