The Department of Health, through the Municipal Veterinary Service, presented the campaign «The city belongs to everyone, for a clean and healthy Yecla: Clean, the dog’s Pip», whose objective is to Raise awareness about the importance of cleaning our dog’s urine to keep our city clean, odor-free, and free of spots on public roads. Dog urine not only ruins urban furniture, lampposts, baskets, and the dirt on the facades of shops, units, public buildings, etc., but also generates discomfort due to its bad odors and serves as a source of infections and insect attraction.
To achieve this, the health department Will provide 3,600 bottles so that dog owners can fill them with water and soap and pour that mixture on the urine to dilute it and not remain impregnated on public roads.
Dog owners can request their bottle at any of the sponsoring centers. Contributing to the animal’s health card: The Veterinary Center «Agricentro», the veterinary clinic «Camino Real», the veterinary clinic «La Jungla», the veterinary clinic «Safracán», «Tukán» at home and in specialized stores: «Purina» and «Mill of the Feed». Requirements to obtain the bottle: That the dog is identified with a microchip, vaccinated against rabies, and living in the city center.
This campaign is also sponsored by the Company of Deeds and the Environment and the Department of Commerce and Hospitality, as well as the following associations, the Coafines Association, the Hospitality Association of Yecla, and the Wine Route of Yecla, as well as the «Spandy» Association for the defense of animals.
The municipal veterinarian emphasized that Cleaning up after our dog is an obligation collected in law 7/2023 to protect the rights and welfare of animals, which also considers that the violation of this obligation is a Minor offense punishable by a warning or a fine of 500 euros.
