El Consejo Municipal de Lorca intensifica órdenes de ejecución para garantizar seguridad y salud en lotes y edificios.

During the first half of the year, 80 orders were issued, with 23 actions already executed amounting to 60,500 euros

The most common interventions include cleaning and clearing plots, closing or replacing fences, or removing elements at risk of detachment, among others

María Hernández, mayor of urban planning: «During this time of the year, with high temperatures, we particularly focus on actions in those areas with vegetation and weeds, due to the risk of fire or the appearance of pests.»

On July 21, 2025, the Lorca Municipal Council, through the Urban Intervention Service, issued a total of 80 execution orders in the first half of 2025 to improve the safety, health, and overall condition of plots and buildings in both urban areas and Pedanias. This was announced on Monday by the Urban Councilor, María Hernández Benítez, who also reported that out of these, 23 actions have already been carried out, with an approximate investment of 60,500 euros by the owners.

María Hernández stated that «execution orders are issued by the council when it is detected that a property poses risks to public safety or health, or due to detached facades, accumulation of debris or weeds, open access to abandoned real estate, or fences in weak conditions, among others.»

The mayor of urban planning also emphasized that «owners have a legal obligation to maintain their properties under safety, health, and public adornment, in accordance with Article 110 of the territorial planning law and urban discipline regulation» and added that «the conservation and maintenance of plots and buildings is not an option, it is a duty.»

Hernández Benítez explained that once the technical report is issued, owners have 10 days to respond. After this period, the final resolution is issued, usually granting another 10 days to carry out the necessary work. «However, we are aware that in many cases, these deadlines may need some flexibility, so we act accordingly. The municipal budget item for these actions in 2025 is 100,000 euros.
The urban planning councilor also mentioned that the most common interventions include cleaning plots, closing fences, or replacing weakened ones, removing elements at risk of detachment, sanitizing rooftops, access pathways, protecting walls or facades. «During this time of the year, with high summer temperatures, we especially reinforce actions on those plots with vegetation and weeds, due to the risk of fire or the appearance of pests. Therefore, we are particularly vigilant in these cases, as an abandoned plot not only affects the environmental image but can pose a real danger to citizens.

«I want to thank all the owners who collaborate with the Municipal Council, respond to our notifications, and carry out the necessary work without the need for municipal intervention, because their involvement is essential to build a safer, cleaner, and more pleasant environment.
