The president of the region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, said today that the bilateral agreement for the singular financing of Catalonia «is another step to dismantle the regional state and breaks the principle of solidarity».
López Miras appeared at the Palacio de San Esteban to report on the regional government’s position on this bilateral agreement, which he described as «corrupt, illegal, and contrary to the constitution, breaking solidarity and equality among Spaniards and only responding to Sánchez’s personal interest in extending his power to Moncloa».
As the president explained, the pact will grant Catalonia an additional 13,000 million euros from the common state fund, while the transfer of the IRPF collection will determine that this autonomous community does not contribute 25,000 million euros. He also denounced that «Sánchez accepts that independence decides which taxes should be paid in the region of Murcia» and warned that «they will not decide for us.» «We will not allow this indignation» For the president of the community, «the damages brought to the region of Murcia are so clear and unacceptable, because the most serious regions will be the most affected,» so he announced that «we will not allow this indignation.»
López Miras also recalled that at the last Conference of Presidents, he requested a reform of the autonomous financing system for all Spaniards «without discriminating against anyone.»
