Education and social rights counselors of Lorca, Rosa María Medina and María Castillo, along with the director of the Archaeological Museum, Andrés Martínez; The director of the Early Attention Center «Fin Fina Navarro,» Francisco Javier Fernández, presented on Tuesday the new edition of the University extension courses that, for another year, will take place in Lorca, due to the collaboration with the University of Murcia.

These are two consolidated seminars that will take place between June and July and approach two areas of great academic and social interest: intervention in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in early care and medieval archaeology focused on Jewish material culture.

During the presentation, Rosa María Medina emphasized that «these courses, already fully established in our city, allow the fundamental longing, such as attention to childhood or enhancing the historical heritage of the Jews in Lorca».

María Castillo, in turn, has influenced the importance of the course focused on autism spectrum disorder, emphasizing that «it is a very important tool to continue advancing in early quality, based on the latest scientific and pedagogical advances. This course will allow professionals and students in Lorca to continue with their firm commitment to our special care».

Update on the current course on diagnosis, evaluation, and intervention in children with autism spectrum disorders in early care», aimed at professionals and students in the field of socio-health and education, offers comprehensive training in the ASD discourse in early care, with specialists like Dr. Pérez or Pedagogue Sánchez, Dr. Juan Martos Pérez or Pedagogue Soler, among others.

It will take place between June 23 and 27 at the Faculty of Socio-Health Sciences on the campus of the University of Lorca. Registration can be formalized until June 20 through the website www.um.es/web/cursdeextenion/, and will have a price of 85 euros and 65 euros for UMU/UPCT members. It will take 25 hours (1 CRAU credit).

On the other hand, the new edition of the Medieval Archaeology Course in Sefarad offers unique and specialized training on the material culture of the Jewish community in the Middle Ages, with practical workshops in the Jews of Lorca Castle and Conferences with some of the leading experts in Sephardic archaeology. Participants, students, and professionals in history, archaeology, and cultural heritage can work directly with original archaeological materials and can learn about the keys of Jewish heritage in Christian and Islamic contexts.

It will take place between July 7 and 9 at the Archaeological Museum and the Castle of Lorca. Registration can be done until July 1 through the website www.um.es/web/cursdextension/, and will have a price of 85 euros and 65 euros for UMU/UPCT members. It will take 25 hours (1 CRAU credit).

Both courses are classified in the university extension program at the University of Mercia and «are an exceptional opportunity to bring university training to citizens, while strengthening Lorca as a regional reference, applying research and improving its historical and social heritage,» concluded the education mayor.
