On June 16, the municipal center «Fina Navarro López» celebrates the 25th anniversary of the publication of the White Book on early intervention, coinciding with the National Day of Early Intervention. This year’s theme, «Seeds of Life,» will feature a seed planting activity by the children attending the Center.
There will also be an exhibition showcasing the skills of local police canine units at Houper-War.
María Castillo, the Mayor of Social Rights, stated: «We want to emphasize our commitment to the little ones, especially those with developmental disorders or at risk of them, and their families. June 16 is a holiday; we hope many children will join us and enjoy this day of participatory, fun, and informative coexistence.»
Lorca, June 13, 2025. The Mayor of Social Rights in the city of Lorca, María Castillo, along with the Director of the Center for Child Development and Early Care «Fina Navarro,» Francisco Javier Fernández Rego, presented the various activities organized to celebrate the national day «with its protagonists in our municipality.
«We wanted to create a special day marked by community leisure, fun, and entertainment for its users and families, while not forgetting the informative nature of the event: a special morning program that we have planned with much care and that will also help us carry out visible and preventive work,»
Specifically, children will plant seeds to develop an ecological garden. This activity will be done in conjunction with others, such as the exhibition of canine skills by the Local Police of Huelcal-Overa and the local police in Lorca, encouraging all participants between 9:00 and 12:00.
Following this, there will be a reading of the Early Intervention Manifesto, and each child will receive a white balloon. Additionally, there will be an APAT lunch. «This day is aimed at users and families from C, Apat-Lorca, and we hope many users will join the program.»
Influence of Lorca’s early model at the national level
Castillo highlighted that, particularly on June 16, the 25th anniversary of the writing of the White Book on Early Intervention is celebrated, where early intervention is defined at the national level, determining the methodological aspects and levels of intervention in this sector.
«It is important for us to highlight this day in the city of Lorca because the professionals who were part of the Municipal Center for Early Intervention during 1999 and 2000 actively participated in drafting this document, which emphasizes the influence of the early intervention model at the national level.»
«At this moment, the commitment of the Lorca City Council to social policy, welfare, and protection of children in our municipality is paramount; especially concerning children with developmental disorders or at risk. Understanding our municipality’s model.» The Mayor stated.
It should be noted that families and children in Lorca utilize two reference centers due to the social partnership administered by the Department of Social Rights, complementary to the Center for Child Development and Early Intervention «Fine Navarro López,» resulting in an improvement in the quality of this free service, as well as the number of users and families benefiting, all with a higher condition.
The main goal of this assistance is to ensure that children with certain developmental disorders or at risk receive everything that, from a preventive and welfare perspective, can enhance their development and well-being; following a model that considers biopsychosocial and affective aspects. Without forgetting, of course, their families; given the different developmental contexts and environments.
