III – An international historical recreation organized by the Golden Century Association, in collaboration with the city of Yecla, will take place from Friday, May 30 to Sunday, June 1, immediately in the vicinity of Constitution Park.
This event will have hundreds of Recreators from all parts of Spain and other countries such as Poland, United States, France, Italy, Portugal, or Croatia. This historical recreation aims to «relive the history and culture of our city during the 16th century, contributing to the preservation of our heritage,» said the culture councilor, Daniel Jiménez.
Locals and visitors can enjoy a Camp set up in Constitution Park where they will discover how the social life, gastronomy, customs, and traditions of our city were in the 16th century.
«The Golden Age of Yecla has become the largest historical reenactment event in the Golden Age in Spain, with almost 500 reenactments, 14 international delegations, and more than 21 national groupsAll coordinated with the Yecla Association, the largest in the country in its field with more than 125 members,» said Enrique González, president of the mentioned association.
The program includes More than 40 civil activities showing how Yecla could have been in the 1570s at all social levels: beggars, peasants, artisans, nobles, soldiers, militia, etc., and with important local elements such as the screen or theCustoms pageological SEcoWell, Yecla was the second most important dry port in Castile.
This recreation is also a tourist attraction with a significant participatory character, which also serves to promote economic development and culturally and commercially energize our city these days.
That is why the Department of Commerce also accompanied this event with a Commercial campaign Through the association with the participation of the CLAC CLAC photographic circle. In these days, in many Yecla stores, you can see photos where the Golden Age is represented by the interaction with current products found in the stores. This campaign, in addition to attracting attention, «will include Yecla commerce in the leisure event to help make it visible and energize it,» explained the commercial councilor, María Martínez.
In turn, the tourism department also collaborates with this historical recreation through Wine Route, with the recreation of a 16th-century tavern. Where two experts will explain how Monastrell grape wine was drunk at that time, how wine was stored and transported at that time, and «where we can taste the wines of our land, but in the style of the golden age,» said tourism councilor Isabel Pérez.
In this III international leisure of historical recreation, the Department of Culture, Tourism, and Commerce of the City of Yecla collaborated; Cultural and educational entities, such as the University of Murcia and the Alfonso X El Sabio Foundation; Local associations, such as the association, the Center for Local Studies (CEL), as well as primary and secondary education centers in our city, emphasizing the participation of the wood section of Castillo Puche, who, for the second consecutive year, built the historical camp and the traditional games area.
They will participate in this relevant recreation of current culture, such as the composer Roque Baños or the sculptor of the tercios Salvador Amaya, in addition to councils from other municipalities and delegations, such as the Polish embassy.
