Another first of this year is the activation, in collaboration with Lorca Thinks and the San José Reading Club, a «Cinephorum», with a debate after the screening of the films «The Flass» on April 3 and «We Will Hever Have Melime» on May 9.
Lorca, March 14, 2025. The city of Lorca’s cultural advisor, Santiago Parra, presented this year’s first program in Lorca of the Paradiso Film Club, which will start on March 20 and end on June 12, with a weekly screening in two sessions.
«The association wants to offer various options to fans of our municipality and is returning to activity for March, April, May, and June, in a shared program that will be designed at the Municipal School of Music and Plastic Arts as a new venue for its weekly screenings. In total, a selection of 10 films that, after their regular run, gather some of the titles that have played in the latest season of the film scene,» said Parra.
Keeping the program in double sessions at 6:30 p.m. «Precisely, the figure of the great American director is the image that gives visibility to the poster and all advertising media with the program,» said the mayor.
Along with Lynch, «on the poster, whose figure was part of the creation of Cineclub Paradiso, one can also discern the architect of its corporate and advertising image, José Ramón Segura Ortigosa, an extraordinary graphic designer and the heart of the association in the shadows. Recently deceased, his loss was a hard blow to all the members of the Cineclub board, and we did not want to start a new path without acknowledging it.»
On March 20, every Thursday, there will be a movie. «Taking advantage of the programming flexibility that this new space allows, sections and activities that have long wanted to be carried out; such as, for example, a «cinepoum», with a debate after the screening of the film selected for this purpose; Specifically, on Thursday, April 3, after the screening of Glitter, the film by Pillar Palelomero about palliative care, and on Thursday, May 29, after the regular screening in the morning, by Paola Corttelesi, on gender violence, there will be a transformation of intervention with the public. This is an activity carried out in collaboration with other associations, such as Lorca Thinks and San José Reading Club.
The rest of the program, with titles like 47 (Thursday, May 15) or Fallen Leaves (Thursday, May 22), will all run until June 12, when the program will end with the screening of the second award, Isaki Lacuest, who, as in the previous edition, wants to expand the festival’s activities.
Santiago Parra encouraged all Lorcan residents and visitors to participate in this activity designed by the culture department with a program for all types of viewers, representing the current global scene. «Our goal is to captivate viewers every week with different and attractive proposals, so that film enthusiasts can feel up-to-date with the progress of the seventh art,» concluded the mayor.
