The works are being carried out in the four classrooms of each of the two children’s pavilions and three classes, in addition to the entrance doors.

Rosa María Medina Mínguez, Mayor of Education, Local Development, and Employment: «The works are very advanced, so in the coming days, we can start the cleaning and placement of the furniture.»

On Friday, July 18, 2025. The activity does not stop at Juan González College, in the neighborhood of San Cristóbal, where summer vacations are being used to carry out the necessary works, so that the facilities are ready for the start of the school year next September. The Mayor of Education, Local Development, and Employment, Rosa María Medina Mínguez, supervised the work carried out at the school by students and monitors from Omega’s employment experiments. «The eight students and their monitor are applying themselves diligently, so that the walls of the center appear in perfect condition again,» explained the Mayor.

The actions began with the removal of all furniture that was in the central area of each of the rooms and was conveniently covered to prevent damage. «Then, all elements that were attached to the walls were removed. There were spikes, hooks, glue, silicones… that were removed with spatulas. All holes were patched and sanded, to then apply two coats of satin-coated plaster, which will allow for better maintenance.»

The works were carried out in the four classrooms of each of the two children’s and three primary pavilions, in addition to the entrance doors. «The works are very advanced, so in the coming days we can start cleaning and placing the furniture. They have been supervised at all times by the school management and teachers, whom we thank for their collaboration,» she added.

She emphasized that «school holidays are used to undertake the necessary work and not interfere with school activities.» The costs of the works will be minimal «due to the fact that the students of the Experiential Omega Employment Program are carrying out real practices in the disciplines they studied theoretically. Only the necessary materials will be invested in, as is the case at Torrecilla College, where students from the experimental Beta program also carry out the necessary work.

At Torrecilla College, the works to condition different areas to organize the new dining room began last week. «It is an action that both the school community and the neighbors have been requesting for some time. The works respond to the very necessary applications that will benefit the entire community,» she contributed.

The works at Torrecilla involve around thirty students from the beta experience in masonry trades, 9 students and 2 monitors; Sanitary facilities, 10 students and 2 monitors; and electricity, 9 students and 1 monitor. They are planned to operate throughout July, taking advantage of the school holidays, to not disrupt the educational activities of the students and teachers.

As at Juan González school, the students from the employment workshops can put into practice everything they have learned. The works at Torrecilla are part of a larger project. «The demolition of the dividing wall, lifting 15 square meters of plaster, 45 square meters of white tiles; installation of the necessary installation facilities in the kitchen to accommodate a sink, dishwasher, and washing machine; necessary electrical installation for all devices (hotplate, refrigerator, cooler,» refrigerator «,

The infrastructure «is a necessary addition that this school needed and that we carried out from the local development and employment department following the announcement by the Ministry of Education that CEIP Torrecilla will have a dining room in the upcoming school year. The framework for their families, as she mentioned, will have an impact on their families,» she concluded in her families «.
