Ginés Ruiz asume el liderazgo del PSOE en Murcia con miras en «Murcia Coming»

Lucas stated that PSOE «defends the interests of citizens, with a real governmental alternative.»

Ginés Ruiz was ratified as the new secretary general of PSOE in Murcia during the meeting of the delegations of the Socialist Association Murcia Gran Ciudad, held at the artillery barracks on Saturday.

The socialist activity also unanimously supported the new Municipal Executive Committee that will lead this new stage of the party in the municipality. Comprised of 36 individuals, the Executive Committee reinforces its commitment to youth, maintaining the two vice-presidencies – Alejandro Toledo, Coordination; and Paula Ferrer, spokesperson and neighborhoods; and appoints the historical socialist Marzal Amparo as president.

The event had the participation of the Secretary General of PSRM-Psoe, Francisco Lucas, who accompanied Ruiz in a meeting marked by unity, collective commitment, and the desire to foster a strong alternative for the future of the municipality.

During his speech, Ginés Ruiz emphasized that «we have the responsibility to build a project that attracts and convinces all those who are waiting to take a step forward with decision and courage. For this, we must care, recover, and attract.»

In these words, the new Secretary General of PSOE Murcia inaugurated a political scenario focused on «The Murcia that emerges,» a collective project centered on social justice, defense of public services, and the good work of the people.

Ruiz pointed out that PSOE in Murcia will work for a municipality accessible to all individuals, «where children do not suffer extreme temperatures in classrooms, young people find healthy leisure alternatives, and believe in a more livable city.»

He also demanded sufficient and efficient public transportation, allowing us to breathe quality air; and a Murcia that does not continue to destroy its heritage and, with it, its identity and, therefore, its future.

«This is the Murcia we want, and this is the Murcia that is coming,» he said, emphasizing that this project «we must weave closely with civil society, with unions, neighborhood associations, merchants, and with all those who are tired of a Murcia that does not care for them and their needs are not met.»

Finally, he addressed his comrades to thank them once again for the trust they have placed, reiterating their firm commitment to the socialist project, to Murcia, and to those who live there. «My commitment is clear: to work, shoulder to shoulder with everyone, so that together, with the hands of society that trusts us, we can make the Murcia project we all desire a reality.»

A real alternative and brave government proposals

On his part, the Secretary General of PSOE in the region of Murcia, Francisco Lucas, stated that the Socialist Party defends, in particular, the interests of citizens, with a real governmental alternative. «We have shown this by making brave proposals, such as our offer agreement to approve regional budgets without red lines, to prevent the region from being held hostage by the far-right and to have budgets focused on solving real people’s problems,» he added.

In line with this, the socialist leader emphasized that PSRM-PSOE has proven to be «a useful part, the first step in regaining the trust of the citizens and being a real governmental alternative, and regretted that López Miras chose to agree on regional budgets with far-right rescue.»

«López Miras chose radicalism. He chose to endure the permanent blackmail of the far-right, endure their deceit. He chose rejection, sexist and xenophobic budgets, which reduced labor rights and attacked social dialogue. He chose budgets of shame,» he said.

Similarly, Francisco Lucas stressed that it is time to take action and focus on the real problems of citizens, in contrast to an agreement between the People’s Party and VOX «that does not meet the needs of the Murcia region.»

«We will talk about young people who cannot become independent, about those who lack public transportation, high levels of pollution, students who cannot learn due to heat, the lack of resources in fire parks. Thousands of patients left unattended while the Popular Party closes offices and hospital beds. And, most importantly, we will offer an alternative,» he said.

Subsequently, the leader of the socialists in the region thanked all comrades in Murcia for the lesson of responsibility and unity they provided during the organic renewal process of the Socialist Party.

Finally, Francisco Lucas congratulated all comrades who make up the new Municipal Executive Committee of the Murcia Gran Ciudad Group, as well as Ginés Ruiz for his ratification as Secretary General of the Municipality.

«Ginés, you have me on your side to defend a more social justice, with a higher quality of life, with more opportunities. A Murcia where all individuals have the same chances, regardless of where they live. A Murcia looking towards the future with hope, ambition, and determination,» he concluded.
