Pedreño se reúne con sindicatos para fortalecer área de salud III.

Cartagena (Murcia), 26 (Europa Press)

El Ministro de Salud, Juan José Pedreño, defended in the control session of the Regional Assembly that the regional government holds regular meetings with six trade unions to assess the workload and needs of health area III, covered by the Lorca region.

In response to criticisms of the lack of personnel at the Rafael Méndez Hospital, Pedreño stated that the staff has been «supported» over the past five years.

As explained, during this period, 504 new professionals were hired in the health area, with 368 going to the hospital and 136 to primary care. He also highlighted the recent expansion of the emergency service by 2,000 new square meters and announced that the next step will be the creation of the Surgical Day Hospital, with an investment of over 750,000 euros.

PSOE deputy María Soldad Sánchez denounced that «there have been unfilled positions at Rafael Méndez for over 15 years» and criticized the government for not hiring necessary staff despite managing healthcare since 2002.

Along the same lines, Podemos deputy María Marín asked if «the workforce will be consolidated, as both staff and users have claimed for weeks.» Pedreño responded that «nothing is dismantled» in zone III and attributed the reorganization to changes caused by the pandemic. He also emphasized the creation of new units, such as complex abdominal wall surgery, and the reduction of 71 days in internal drug waiting lists.

Public showing the law

The Minister of Presidency, Marcos Ortuño, explained in the Plenary, in response to Vox’s questions, that the future law on public shows and leisure activities in the Mercia region is still in the drafting phase, but he assured that the government is working «seriously, rigorously, and coordinately» to ensure a solid regulation.

Ortuño indicated that in recent months, over 500 files related to public programs have been processed, and there is no legal vacuum, as a decree from November establishes a penalty regime for these activities.

The presentation of the 2025 budgets was also discussed during the control session. The Minister of Finance, Luis Alberto Marín, stated that the regional government will present the general budget project up to 2025 «as soon as possible» and assured that the priorities will focus on consolidating the pillars of the welfare state: health, education, and policy.

In response to questions from PSOE and Podemos, Marín defended that «the regional executive is working to present accounts that focus on quality education, top-notch public health, and a more participatory social policy.»

In contrast to criticisms from socialist Carmina Fernández, who called for budget presentation in the face of population vulnerability, Marín rebuked PSOE for lacking credibility: «It’s curious that they ask us to present budgets when Pedro Sánchez hasn’t done so since 2023.»

From Podemos, Víctor Egío criticized that «the budgets in the region focus more on Catalonia or Morocco than on the real problems of Murcia» and criticized that the PP government follows the VOX political line, regarding immigration or social policy.

Regarding social policy, the Minister of Social Policy, Conchita Ruiz, criticized in response to a PP issue, the design and management of the minimum living income (IMV) promoted by the Spanish Government, accusing it of «lack of transparency,» «weak design,» and «punishing recipients.»

Ruiz stated that this benefit «has become a defenseless aid» and did not fulfill its social integration function, lacking socio-labor itineraries for recipients. She also denounced that the IMV discourages active job seeking and pointed out another flaw as «the necessary return to families who were unfairly penalized due to administrative errors.»

On another note, the Minister of Environment, Universities, Research, and Mar Menor, Juan María Vázquez, assured that the regional government will comply with the aid granted for the installation of solar panels and the purchase of electric vehicles and charging points «within the terms established by the Spanner government.»

During the session, in response to socialist deputy Alfonso Martínez, Vázquez defended that the regional executive fulfilled all management commitments and considered the central government responsible for widespread delays in payment of these subsidies.

«They say that almost all autonomous communities, including Catalonia, have appealed: the delay has generated widespread dissatisfaction, and the Spanish Government still does not listen or act,» he said. He also noted that «today, the promise to launch a new mobility program for 2025 has not been fulfilled.»

During the meeting, the Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Sports, Carmen María Conesa, stated in the Regional Assembly plenary that the declaration as a cultural interest asset (BIC) of the hydraulic heritage of the Murcia Garden is «fully compatible with the traditional use of the irrigation system for the gardens.»

In response to a question from Vox, Conesa emphasized that the main declaration of the Alumla as a BIC «under the figure of an ethnographic site» guarantees both its structural protection and the maintenance of traditional uses.

She explained that authorization is necessary for works that may affect the material structure of the ditches, but ordinary irrigation works «can be carried out without prior authorization.»

From Vox, deputy Pascual Salvador criticized that the gardens «take precedence over maintaining the orchard as if it were a museum» and denounced that «the true cultural interest asset that should be protected is the garden,» which, he said, «maintains that environment without receiving any economic consideration.»

During the session, other issues were addressed, such as adapting to the commercial demand for virtual professions, which has increased by 10% in the number of cycles and 13.27% in locations that facilitate access to training for students with various responsibilities.
