Los chefs locales y la región de Murcia se unen en «1001 Delicias de Lorca» Iniciativas

After the success of the previous year, this second edition will take place on Thursday nights and will start on February 27th at Casa Roberto, who will be cooking alongside Borrego de Bulas House.

Spaces for these tasting tables are limited, and reservations must be made by calling the participating local units.

Mª Huertas García, the mayor of traditions, said: «This ‘4 hands’ cycle not only gives us the opportunity to enjoy the best of our cuisine with unique dishes and products in our region, but also contributes to tourism development in Lorca.»

On February 20, 2025, the traditions advisor of Lorca, María de Las Huertas García, participated on Thursday, along with the tourism director of the Murcia region, Juan Francisco Martínez; The president of Hostens, Jesús Abelaneda; and the president of Jecomur, Juan Antonio García, in the presentation of the second edition of «1001 Delights of Lorca,» which will take place in different restaurants in Lorca every Thursday from February 27th to April 3rd.

Maria de Las Huertas García stated that chefs from Lorca and some of the best chefs in the Murcia region will prepare «4 hands» menus at different hospitality units in Lorca. «The goal is to promote and spread regionally the very high level of Lorca chefs, cuisine, and local products, as well as attract new visitors to the city,» she argued.

This new edition will start on February 27th at «Roberto House» with «Borrego House» in Bullas (Alejandra Rodríguez and Salvador Fernández); Thursday, March 6th at Gastrobar Caamarejo with «El Churra» from Murcia (Vanesa Lerenti and Juan Antonio García); March 13th at Taberna la Cepa with «Arrabal» from Aldo (Germán Segura and Gabino Martínez); March 20th at «La Acena» with «De Loreto» from Jumilla (chefs Braulio Cantero and Irene López); March 27th at the restaurant «La Alameda» with Casa de Cartagena House (Teresa Hernández and Cayetano Gómez); and April 3rd at Bangalore Lorca with «La Paz» in Alcantlarilla (chefs José Manrique Sánchez and Alejandro Medina).

This cycle, organized by Hostens and the Association of Kitchen Chiefs and Chefs in the Murcia Region (Jecromur), with the collaboration of the Tourism Institute in the Murcia region through the «1001 Arofe Region of Murcia» and the Lorca Municipal Council, will offer menus consisting of a wide variety of dishes featuring local and regional products such as Lorquino cake and crepillo, DOP DOP from Murcia, Calasparra Rice, as well as protected name artichokes, Murcia goat, artisan cheeses from «La Zarcillera» and «El Roano,» all paired with wines from the Murcia region with designation of origin and Levante’s star beer.

The mayor of traditions commended Hostens, Jecomur, and the participating restaurants for achieving this initiative, which was groundbreaking in our city and is successful again this year. «We have the privilege of enjoying menus developed by the most prestigious chefs from the Murcia region and Lorca, putting our region on the culinary map for these three months.»

She encouraged all Lorca residents and visitors to take part in this gastronomic experience by making reservations at the participating venues to enjoy the wonderful Lorca and regional cuisine through these four-handed menus. «This initiative not only allows us to enjoy the best of our cuisine with unique dishes and products in our region, but also contributes to boosting tourism in our municipality. Each restaurant taking part in this experience will promote Lorca’s culinary richness and also boost our economy and tourism development over these three months, as we have the opportunity to showcase the hospitality and charm of our city to visitors.»

Meanwhile, the tourism director of the Murcia region thanked the initiative, which will promote the 1,001 flavors of the region and its professionals among locals and visitors, promoting business growth and strengthening the region’s image as a reference.

Jesús Abelaldaneda also invited Lorca residents and visitors to «join an initiative that aims to continue recognizing the enormous gastronomic quality we have in Lorca, both in the management and kitchens of hospitality associated with Hostens, as well as in local and regional products that we can proudly say are among the best in the world. We bring together tradition, innovation, refined foods, and excellent company that once again demonstrates hospitality, to provide these four-handed menus in the best place to eat, which is Lorca.»

Finally, the president of Jecomur concluded that «last year was a complete success in the four-handed menus we created, and a very positive experience in which Lorca and the rest of the Murcia region enjoyed together, creating these menus and learning from each other.»

The initiative has the collaboration of the Tourism Institute through «Region 1001 AROFE from Murcia,» Lorca Local Council, Ceclor, Chamber of Commerce in Lorca, Estrella de Levante, Zambú, José Díaz Hosteleros suppliers, Aguas de Lorca, José Regulatory Council, suppliers of the «Pimecón de Murcia» designation of origin, the Regulatory Council of the «Calasparra rice» designation of origin, the Artichoke Association of Spain, the Cachamur Association of breeders associated with Chato Murciano, Taurino de Lorca, Caprichos del Paladar, Bodegas Contreras, Zarcillera, Quesería Roano, Crespillos de Alcazar, Chato Murciano José Revete, and Makro.
