Lorca organiza la «Semana Artisan» del 4 al 14 de febrero

The activity is intended for the general public, but particularly for students, associations, and groups, and its aim is to showcase the traditional crafts and trades of Lorca, as well as promote local commerce.

The demonstrations offered include: ceramics, mud modeling, jute weaving, stone carving, floral arrangements, marquetry in noble woods, hairstyles and accessories, jewelry and artisanal beads, and pyrography.

Pre-arranged visits for live demonstrations will be scheduled in advance, by phone at 968 320 898.

Lorca, January 30, 2025. The Mayor of Craftului from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Craftsman’s house in Lorca, featuring the exhibition of handmade products, daily demonstrations of the various trade workshops, as well as the sale of various artisanal products among craftsmen.

This was done alongside Martín Lario, the president of the Association, in an appearance where he detailed that «the different activities programmed cater to all kinds of audiences, but especially families, students, associations, and tourist groups of all kinds, which can be served as always from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.»

For pre-arranged visits for groups, with live demonstrations of various artisan trades, it is recommended to book in advance by calling 968 320 898. The details of each workshop at this time are subject to the availability of each participating artisanal house that engage in additional activity, for group reservations that are gradually coming in.

As the Mayor explained, «visitors can enjoy the products exhibited in the ‘Masters Room’, located on the third floor, where they will find a small sample of all those trades that continue to be fully prepared in Lorca. The museum guide will be overseen by the active arts coordinator, Francisco Salas, and Ana Belén Martínez.

«We invite everyone, Lorquinos and visitors, to visit these exhibitions that bring us closer to our traditions through crafts and to be part of the different workshops organized. All items on display are for sale, allowing not only the promotion of local commerce, but also for the public to enjoy typical refined products,» concluded Martínez.

Specifically, the workshops and demonstrations scheduled for different days are:

Tuesday, February 4: there will be demonstrations by ceramist Rosa Playá and Antonio Pérez Bayonas showcasing their pyric technique. Both from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Wednesday, February 5: it will be the opportunity for Martín Lario, a shoemaker from the 18th century, and Silvia Teruel’s embroidery. Both from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Thursday, February 6: Molina will be there, sculpting a complex song in natural stone, and Azabache Atelier will display elegant models in hairstyles and accessories. Both from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Friday, February 7: There will be a floral arrangements workshop on Héctor Madrid’s structure, one of the two pillars of high floral design, and another by Paco Montero, the only active paracerador in the region of Murcia and honorary craftsman who will demonstrate the ancient marquetry technique. These activities will take place from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Saturday, February 8: From 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., visitors can enjoy Silvia Teruel’s embroidery, with an impeccable demonstration of the traditional Lorquino silk and gold embroidery, and Paca Molina, from Piedra Viva, who will forge a beautiful song in natural stone.

Tuesday, February 11: Pedro Carrillo, from Artellano 1994, will weave a piece in a 19th-century fabric. JUAN MONTIEL – Jumondi will show how footballs are crafted, using different bronzed leather pieces and rudimentary handling tools. From 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Wednesday, February 12: Master Potter Martín Lario will showcase his work, and Antonio Pérez Bayonas will again offer a large pyrographic exhibition. From 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Thursday, February 13: It’s the turn of Taraceador Paco Montero (Marquetry) and artisan Natalia Jiménez from Nataly Crafts (jewelry). From 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Friday, February 14: To culminate this VIII Crafts Week, Rosa Playá will entertain visitors with a mud demonstration and Juan Montiel – Jumondi will surprise once again by making incredible leather balls. Both demonstrations are scheduled from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
