The president of the government of the Murcia region, Fernando López Miras, visited today the blooming in Cieza, where he emphasized that this Flower landscape «is a spectacle of the region’s nature» that «brings together two of our great pillars: agriculture and tourism. Flowering serves as a growing lever, as it allows us to stimulate the internal and natural.

As an example of this growing tourism development, the president recalled that the flowering attracted about 60,000 visitors only in 2024 in the municipality of Cieza and emphasized that it helps stimulate economic activity outside the summer season.

«The fruit trees that are a display of nature today, tomorrow will be the economic and social engine of the region, due to the export of their fruits,» said López Miras. In 2024, the region exported around 143,000 tons of stone fruits worth over 256 million euros, the second largest data in the country, after Lleida.

The exports of stone fruits in the Murcia region represent 19 percent of those in Spain and have main destinations, Germany, France, Italy, and the Netherlands. In total, the Murcia region has around 21,000 hectares for these fruit trees, mainly apricots, peaches, nectarines, Paraguayan, and Platin.

Regarding Apricot, the Murcia region was the leading autonomous community in external sales in 2024, with 29,000 tons that generated 55 million euros. The exports of this fruit represent 31.8 percent of the national total.

The community, through the Tourism Institute in the Murcia region, collaborates financially in the programming of flowering activities, as well as in the organization of the gastronomic fair «Degusta Cieza».
