El plan regional «más que una casa», promoted by the Ministry of Social Policy, Families and Equality, allowed the expansion of the «Virgen de Los Dolores» residence in Blanca, with three more coexistence units. An initiative that increases the number of places to 57, with more individualized care spaces adapted to the needs of the residents.

For this purpose, the community allocated a total of 70,083 euros from European funds and the local council of Blanca, more than 7,000 euros. «The goal is to continue investing in the well-being of the elderly in the municipality, improving services and continuing with the progressive expansion of the facilities.»

This was highlighted by the Minister of Social Policy, Conchita Ruiz, along with the mayor of Blanca, Ángel Pablo Cano, during their visit to the Residential Center, whose works also allowed the reform of medical assistance and the creation of more functional and accessible spaces.

Ruiz emphasized that, with the Blanca residence, «more than 200 residential centers and daily centers for the disabled currently benefit from the regional plan» more than a house «, with the improvement of infrastructure and the purchase of new equipment aimed at promoting autonomy and active aging for more than 10,200 users in the region.»

«The users of these centers are trying to feel at home, care for and participate at any time, with specialized support and in an environment of proximity and comfort. This is the true objective of this plan that facilitates the fact that, currently, about 150 local and social entities can adapt their centers to the new long-term care model and, therefore, to meet the need,» he said.

The budgetary team for this construction and remodeling program of the centers exceeds six million euros.
