During the presentation on Wednesday, the councilor on vacation, José Antonio Marín, and the President of the Classic Bicycle Association «Las Galgas,» Martín Marco, announced the Classic Bicycle Concentration a tradition before the festivities of San Isidro, which will take place this Sunday, May 4, at Parque de la Constitución starting at 9:00 in the morning. In this edition, all proceeds will go to Afay, the Association of Friends and Family of Alzheimer’s Patients in Yecla.
At 9:00 a.m. in Parque de la Constitución, individuals who did not register at the exhibition located at the ramp of San Francisco and opened last weekend where registrations were accepted from April 28 to May 3. The registration fee is 2 euros. The only requirement to participate in this activity is to bring a bicycle over 25 years old and dress up as a «Sanisidarrero» (long shirt, straw hat, vest, or similar).
At 9:30 a.m., all participants will set off for Cooperativa de Purísima, where they will enjoy a typical breakfast of Gachasmigas. Afterwards, they will head to a designated location to see the preparation of a San Isidro float, keeping in mind all the visitors to Yecla on that day. The route will continue to Placa de Ortega, where there will be a stop to visit the Hospital Church, Casa de la Cultura, and the Simón Brothers Workshop. Finally, they will walk to the Ramp in San Francisco, where a raffle will take place and various prizes will be awarded.
Salvador Hernández, spokesperson for Afay, expressed gratitude for «the solidarity of the participants in our fight against Alzheimer’s. We encourage the residents of Yecla to join and support these classic bicycle enthusiasts.»
