The new headquarters is located on Jardineros Street, in the vineyard, covering over 120 m² and will enhance and expand activities and services for both users and their families
The rental contract formula, managed by the heritage department, will provide the entity with stability, a key element for its development and the respect of its purposes.
Belén Pérez, Heritage: «This provision once again demonstrates the commitment of this governmental team to the development of social initiatives aimed at providing a good well-being to our citizens and greater coverage for those most in need, as outlined in our «2032 framework».
Lorca, March 15, 2025. The Mayor of Heritage, Belén Pérez, today announced the mission, in the city of Lorca, of a new location, 130m² in size, located at 6 Jardineros Street, to the Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain Association (Afilor), which will cater to more services for users and their families.
This announcement was made alongside the Mayor of Non-Governmental Organizations, Belén Díaz, and the President of the Association, Antonia Robbles, as per the leasing section, which includes a duration from March 1, 2025, until December of this year, providing stability to the entity, a crucial variable for its proper functioning.
«This new location replaces a previous one for the same purpose, located at 4 Padre Azor Street, which had a smaller surface area, so we are convinced of the suitability of this decision, which also meets the institution’s requirements over the years. A provision made by the heritage department that once again demonstrates the commitment of this governmental team to the development of social initiatives aimed at providing a good well-being to our citizens and greater coverage for those most in need. A fundamental premise of the Lorca government, as outlined in our «2032 framework», stated the head of the area, Belén Pérez.
These new facilities will not only provide a better infrastructure for the association, which currently has 150 members in the city, optimizing its offering of therapies, exercises, crafts, etc. «When we had to accommodate families and new members, programs had to be interrupted to avoid disrupting activities. Now, with this new, much larger location, we can launch new projects, such as an office and a meeting room, where we can receive members and their families and hold discussions; And a room to conduct tailored exercise therapies, without having to dismantle tables and chairs, allowing for larger groups and more flexible programs. Our association continues to grow and we needed more space. Therefore, we aim to incorporate a physiotherapy service, individual therapy with our psychologist (previously in a group setting), and more hours for cognitive impairment. We have also included a workshop called «A Coffee and Reflection», where we can express our feelings without fear of judgment,» added Antonia Robles, who announced the Association’s intention to «incorporate an activity for family members to help them better understand this illness and those who suffer from it.»
«This new location is a significant boost for the association, providing better conditions for the development of its therapies and functions, including counseling and support for those going through difficult times. I want to send a message of affection and encouragement to those currently affected by this illness and their families, thanking each member of the association for their daily work to improve the quality of life of its users. From the Lorca government, this Municipal Council will continue working on policies that fulfill a greater social good, especially for those in more vulnerable situations.»
