Local police have established alternative traffic routes and are asking citizens to limit vehicle use in this area as much as possible, especially during peak hours.
March 13, 2025. Regarding the progress of the high-speed Mediterranean corridor works, Adif requested the Total Local Traffic Court on Santa Clara Avenue, in the section between Rierraway Bridge and the roundabout of the old Tincinos Bridge. This was announced on Thursday by the mayor of infrastructure and citizen safety in the city of Lorca, Ángel Meca Ruzafa and Juan Miguel Bayonas, who also informed that this traffic restriction will be in effect from Thursday, March 20th to Friday, April 4th. It is important to highlight that pedestrian traffic will be maintained, and parking in the area will be prohibited starting at 00:00 on March 20th.
Ángel Meca emphasized that «The Ave Underground continues to progress, and ADIF, the railway infrastructure administrator, has requested this reduction to carry out works in the area. We appreciate the collaboration of residents and drivers and ask for understanding of the inconveniences they may cause, reminding that this is a project that will improve many aspects of Lorca, especially in connectivity.»
The councilor for citizen safety has requested planning for trips and visits, adding, «We ask citizens to limit vehicle use in this area as much as possible, especially during peak hours, by using permitted alternative routes to minimize traffic impact.»
He also stressed that «We recommend that residents of Lorca plan ahead and consider alternative routes, while following activated signals that will be monitored by local police» and reminded that the company responsible for the works must indicate closures and safety guarantees for pedestrians.
To ensure proper mobility, the following alternative routes have been established by local police:
• Sense Hospital, Eagles, and Andaluce (from the neighborhoods of Apolonia, San Cristóbal, San Diego, and the city center and back):
• N-340A → Europa Avenue → San Diego Roundabout → C/ Juan Antonio Dimas
• O: Central Roundabout → Mayor Leoncio Collado Avenue → Antonio Gallego López Avenue → Mayor José López Fuentes → South Ring in all directions.
• Sancia San Antonio, La Viña, San José, City Center, San Cristóbal, San Diego, and Apolonia (from the Hospital, Egrics, and Andalucía):
• For vehicles up to 6 meters in length (except authorization):
• N-340A → Granada Road → President Adolfo Suárez Avenue → C/ Jerónimo Santa Fe → Oval → Juan Carlos I → Europa Avenue.
