School activity suspended in IMA centers in five northern municipalities where rain triggered an orange alert.
This preventive measure aims to avoid travel and reduce mobility to protect the entire educational community and especially vulnerable groups.
The autonomous community declared the suspension of school activity for the day in all public network centers of the Murcian Institute of Social Action (IMAS) in the municipalities of Bulas, Calasparra, Caravaca de Cruz, Cehegín, and Moratalla.
The measure is taken in coordination with the General Directorate of Citizen Security and Emergency to prevent the entire educational community in the north and especially vulnerable groups from being moved, forecasting heavy rains and storms in the area.
It is advisable to avoid unnecessary travel in any case, following the orange alert level decreed today at 5:00.
Furthermore, in those municipal centers where school activity continues, students must provide possible teachers who are unable to move to the educational center. Also, the absence of teachers proving the impossibility of attending their service center will be considered justified to avoid their movement.
The educational community is asked to pay attention to the website and social media channels of education and 112, where updates on the evolving weather situation will be provided.
The Ministry of Education and Professional Training is in constant contact with the General Directorate of Citizen Security and Emergency and awaits notifications from the Special Civil Protection Plan before the floods in the Murcia region.
IMAS Public Network Centers
The suspension of IMAS activity includes early intervention services, personal autonomy promotion services, social centers, and day centers for the elderly and disabled. Additionally, the Ministry of Social Policy and Equality recommends that the rest of the centers, as far as possible, adopt similar measures.
In case of an extension of the orange alert situation established by Aemet or the extension to other municipalities, the suspension will be extended to these municipalities and will continue for the affected areas until the end of the alert situation.
